While Fat Tuesday’s biggest parties might be found in New Orleans, the Mardi Gras festivities can also be experienced right here on the Grand Strand – and without the need to travel all the way to Louisiana or endure the jam-packed Bourbon Street crowds. Marshi Gras at the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk lets you experience a Lowcountry version of the Big Easy’s biggest party – and Paradise Resort on the Myrtle Beach oceanfront puts you within easy reach of all the fun. In 2018, Fat Tuesday falls on February 13, and the good times will get rolling on the MarshWalk at 7 p.m. with a costume parade led by the Marshi Gras king and queen. Be sure to deck out your attire, as a costume contest will be held, and $1,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the top four best-dressed. (Parade registration begins at 5 p.m. and runs through 6:35 p.m. – and while anyone can join the parade along its route, only those who have registered will be eligible for prizes.) Don’t have the purple, green and gold attire traditionally worn by Mardi Gras-goers? Or not sure where to get your hands on the masks and beads typically sported by Fat Tuesday revelers? No need to worry – the MarshWalk’s eight restaurants and bars will be providing festive accessories and party favors to those in attendance at Marshi Gras. In addition, all of the businesses will offer special, Louisiana-themed drinks and menus to mark the occasion, and the festivities will continue at each location throughout the evening. Located just 11 miles south of Paradise Resort in the historic fishing village of Murrells Inlet, the MarshWalk features a half-mile wooden boardwalk overlooking a salt marsh and sprinkled with waterfront restaurants and bars. The dining and entertainment offerings include: Bovine’s – a restaurant specializing in fresh seafood, aged beef and gourmet pizzas, all cooked in a wood-fired brick oven The Claw House – a New England-style lobster house and raw bar with a Southern twist Creek Ratz – a casual eatery with a focus on fresh seafood and American favorites like sandwiches, burgers and pizza Captain Dave’s Dockside – a family-owned dinner restaurant whose specialties include fresh-caught seafood and aged beef; the adjacent (and more casual) Bubba’s Love Shak shares the restaurant’s kitchen and serves the lunch crowd Dead Dog Saloon – a regular host of live music, this casual restaurant serves fresh seafood and American fare such as sandwiches and barbecue Drunken Jack’s – known for live music and fresh seafood, this restaurant also features chicken, steak and pasta dishes Wahoo’s Fish House – a “Taste of the Tidelands” Award-winning restaurant with a focus on fresh catches, sushi and aged steaks Wicked Tuna – a waterfront grille that specializes in fresh seafood, grilled steaks and sushi For a Mardi Gras celebration that delivers the spirit of Louisiana with the scenery of the Lowcountry, book your Paradise Resort getaway today, and set your sights on Marshi Gras at Murrells Inlet’s MarshWalk.
