From parades and live music to baseball and boats, the long list of ways to experience the Fourth of July in Myrtle Beach is as endless as the summer seems on the biggest holiday of the season. You don't want to miss out on the action, and you don't have to when you stay with us at The Breakers. Here's a look at some of the many Fourth of July events in the works:
* Myrtle Beach Boardwalk: The hottest party in town is on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, which is easily accessible for guests at The Breakers. Take a short walk down the beach, Ocean Boulevard or the Boardwalk to a free Hot Summer Nights concert and other entertainment on the Plyler Park stage, capped by a beautiful fireworks display over the Atlantic Ocean. The fireworks are launched from the Second Avenue Pier, but they can be viewed from any spot along the beach, including from The Breakers Resort. The live entertainment in Plyler Park starts at 7 p.m., followed by the fireworks at 10 p.m.
* Broadway at the Beach: Located about a mile inland from The Breakers Resort, this popular entertainment, shopping and dining district provides a fun night out for the whole family. As part of the Summer Nights at Broadway entertainment series, the main stage will feature live music, fire dancers, stilt-walkers and more as the warm-up acts for the main event – an impressive fireworks display over Lake Broadway at 10 p.m.
* Myrtle Beach Pelicans: Baseball is the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day, and the hometown home team, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, go all out to celebrate the occasion in true American style during their 7:05 p.m. game against the Buies Creek Astros at Pelicans Ballpark. Rated as providing one of the top minor-league baseball experiences in the country, the Pelicans’ Fourth of July offerings will include excellent baseball, hilarious between-inning skits and a post-game fireworks show with patriotic music. The stadium is a straight shot down 21st Avenue North, about 1 mile inland from The Breakers.
* Murrells Inlet Independence Day Boat Parade: The “Seafood Capital of South Carolina” has its own version of a Fourth of July Parade, and it involves the use of boats over floats. The 34th Annual Murrells Inlet Independence Day Boat Parade features a procession of vessels decorated in red, white and blue that sails through the inlet to the thrill of attendees lining the banks. The parade runs from 4 to 6 p.m. and can be viewed from various spots along the inlet, including the famed Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, where you can also see the 10 p.m. fireworks show launched from Veterans Pier.
* Barefoot Landing: If you happen to be in North Myrtle Beach, be sure to check out the all-day Fourth of July party at the multi-purpose complex known as Barefoot Landing. The buildup to the 9:30 p.m. fireworks show includes live music and other entertainment, including a foot parade around the boardwalk at sunset.
With so many fun things to do on the Fourth of July in Myrtle Beach, the hardest part of the holiday may be deciding which party to attend.
